Robert "Bob" G. Kattelman

Robert “Bob” G. Kattelman, 80, of Pittsfield passed away December 18, 2009 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.  Born May 6, 1929 in Quincy, IL he was a son of William O. and Josephine Meyer Kattelman.  He married Norma Gregory September 12, 1951 in Pittsfield and she survives.

 

In previous years, Bob worked for Skelly Oil Company and then worked for the Ben Franklin store in Pittsfield for thirty years.  He was a veteran of the United States Army, a member of the Pittsfield American Legion Post #152 and the Pittsfield Moose Lodge.  He enjoyed playing pitch, penny poker with his grandchildren, going to his sons sporting events and his grandchildren’s activities.  He volunteered as a driver at the Pike County Senior Citizen Center and was a fan of Illini football and basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals.

 

Surviving is his wife Norma,  and three sons,  Tim Kattelman of Quincy, IL; Ed (Cherolyn) Kattelman  and Greg (Lila) Kattelman of Pittsfield and six grandchildren.  Two brothers survive, James (Carol) Kattelman of Cedar Falls, IA. and Tom Kattelman of Bethado, IL; one sister Betty Yokem of Cedar Falls, IA., along with several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

 

Bob was preceded in death by a son, Bruce in 1972, brothers, Ed McComber, Bill Kattelman, John McComber, Roy McComber,  and Joe Kattelman.  Two sisters Laverta Scheiter and Vivian Orrill also preceded him in death.

 

Services will be held at 11 A.M., Monday, December 21 at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with Michael TenEyck officiating.  Interment will be in the Pittsfield West Cemetery with  the Pittsfield American Legion Post #152 according military graveside rites.  Visitation will be held at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Sunday, December 20 from 4 until 8 p.m.

 

Family suggests that memorials be made to the Pike County Senior Citizen Center, Pittsfield-Pikeland Athletic Association or the Pittsfield American Legion.
