Lois M. Miller

Mrs. Lois M. Miller, 77 of Detroit, IL died Thursday, September 24, 2009, at her residence in Detroit.  Lois was born May 23, 1932, in Pittsfield, IL., a daughter of Harvey O. and Frances L. Ellis Reel.  Her first marriage was to Evertt Pennock; she later married Lloyd Miller on May 21, 1983 at the Detroit United Methodist Church, and he preceded her in death on April 30, 2009.

 

She worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Pittsfield, Illinois and at Capitol Records in Jacksonville, Illinois.  She was a member of the Detroit United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Little Blue Club.  She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, working jigsaw puzzles, fishing, making potholders, and completing puzzle books.  She was a Cardinal Baseball fan; she enjoyed watching basketball on TV, and the Pittsfield and Pleasant Hill Basketball games. 

 

Survivors include three sons: Roger (Brenda) Pennock,  Gary (Companion, Lori Thornton) Pennock, Jerry (Wanda) Pennock all of Detroit and two daughters, Mrs. Marcia (Kay) Dehart, Pittsfield, IL., and Mrs. Nancy (Dick) Lomelino, Detroit, IL., twelve grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.  Also surviving is one brother, A. C. (Norma) Reel of Pittsfield, IL,  two sisters, Mrs. Bill (Velma) Christison of Pittsfield, Il, and Mrs. Leta Jean Daniels of Romeoville, IL and a sister-in-law, Ann Reel of Prescott, Arizona.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Miller, a brother, Harry Lee Reel, and one granddaughter.

 

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 27, 2009  at 2 p.m. at the Detroit United Methodist Church with Rev. David Kelly and Peg Ratliff officiating.  Burial will be in the Blue River Cemetery at Detroit, IL.  A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2009 from 4 until 8 pm at the Niebur Funeral Home, Pittsfield, Illinois. The family suggests memorials to be made to the Detroit United Methodist Church or to the Shiner’s Hospital for Children.
