MRS. BERNICE  E.  WHEWELL, 85 of Pittsfield, Il., died Sunday (9/6/09) at the Barry Community Care Center in Barry, Il.

Born near Murrayville, Il., she was a daughter of Lee and Stella Bunch Fisher. She married Wilburn Eugene Whewell March 11,1941 at Bowling Green, Mo. and he preceded her on Jan.3,1988.

Bernice farmed along side her husband for many years. Later she worked at the Heritage House and Cardinal Inn Restaurants in Pittsfield, also the Community Services and Reach out in Pittsfield.

Bernice was a devoted member of the Pittsfield Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed fishing, rock hunting, going to yard and garage sales, visiting her friends by telephone, and watching the humming birds coming to her feeder. Bernice dearly loved her family, her friends and her church. She especially enjoyed watching the regular Saturday evening ministries on TV and the Gaithers.

She is survived by 2 sons: Gene Whewell and Darrell Whewell both of Pittsfield, one brother Robert Fisher of Jacksonville, Il. and a sister Anna Anderson of Chapin, Il., 4 grandchildren, Kim(Carl)Anderson of San Antonio, TX., Kristi (Mike) Johnson of Barry, Il., Steve (w-Monika) Whewell of Tulsa, OK. And Sandy (Greg)Fitzgerald also of Tulsa, Ok., 9 great g.c. and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded by one brother Tracy Fisher.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Pittsfield with Rev. Quentin Beard officiating. Burial will be at Pittsfield West Cemetery.

Friends may call at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield Tuesday 5 till 8 p.m.
