MRS. JENE BLACKETER, 82, of Baylis, Illinois died Thursday morning, May 7, 2009, at the Eastside Heathcare and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield, Illinois.  She was born on February 2, 1927 in Louisiana, Missouri, to William Robert and Bertha Lena Elliott Eveland.,  She married Marvon H.S. Blacketer on May 10, 1945 and he preceded her in death on July 16, 1978.  Mrs. Blacketer was a worked for Stark Brother’s Nursery in Louisiana, Missouri.   She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Baylis, IL.  She enjoyed reading, making Christmas candy, watching the daily soap operas and feeding and watching the birds.  She was very devoted to her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

      She is survived by one son, Robert (Linda) Blacketer of Pittsfield, IL and two daughters Mrs. Dona (Dwayne) Hibberd of Baylis, IL and Mrs. Marva (Bill) Hurst of Griggsville, IL.  She is also survived by six grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 2:30 pm. at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield.  Cremation rites will be accorded per her wishes.

Friends may call at the Niebur Funeral Home Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services at 2:30 p.m.  The family requests memorials to be made to the Pike County Christmas Basket Fund or the Pike County Food Pantry.
