Elizabeth (Williamson) Friend, 91 of Escondido, California died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 in California. 

     She was born July 9, 1917 in Pittsfield, a daughter of  Gay and Salena Carnes Williamson.  She married Joe Friend in Decatur, and he preceded her in death. 

     She is survived by one sister, Marguerite (Pete)  Hunter of Pittsfield: a nephew Gay (Carole ) Williamson of Griggsville; four nieces, Greta Snow of Houston, Texas, Suzanne (Charles) Worthington, of Pittsfield, Rachel (Lawrence) Smith of Pittsfield, and Janice (Peter) Eiseman of Scarsdale, N.Y.

     She was preceded in death by her husband, 6 brothers, Presley Williamson, Mike Williamson, Orvey Williamson, Frank Williamson, William Henry(Henie) Williamson, and George Williamson; four sisters, Leela Ikes, Gully Birdella Thompson, Helen Raymond, and Taletta Veith. 

     Cremation rites will be accorded per her wishes.  Private graveside services will be held at Pittsfield West Cemetery at a later date.  Memorials are suggested to Pike County Chapter of the American Red Cross.
